Juanita Casey: One of 100 stories

Just received a preview copy of The Art of the Glimpse - 100 Short Irish Short Stories, a vast book (744 pages!) containing a wonderful story entitled 'One Word' by the charismatic and much missed Juanita Casey (1925-2012), the second wife of our favourite artist Sven Berlin. The stories have been selected by Sinead Gleeson. Juanita is in fantastic company including Samuel Beckett, Maeve Binchy, Roddy Doyle and Sally Rooney and many many more!

Those who remember Juanita from her days in St. Ives, Cornwall and in the New Forest will find this little gem an insight into her writing after she left the Forest for Ireland with Fergus Casey who became her third husband.

She later spent a lot of time in Ireland writing and was published by Liam Miller of the Dolmen Press. Here she is on Texas, one of her much loved Appaloosa's on the beach on Mornington Strand close to where the story is set.
