Writing, editing, publishing and bringing stories to a new audience is always a joy. This year, I’ve loved working with artist Rod Hague on the monograph of his work Contrasts. I was really keen to express his versatility - always painting, as he says - and the connections which have inspired him.
It was a real honour too to work on a special part of New Forest history - the story of the Godshill Pottery In the Spirit of Godshill, a memoir written by the delightful Chris Charman. And another inspired bit of writing, Take Three Ponies, from Chris - on that pony trek he and Kate made in 1958, is now available to pre-order.
Earlier I worked with the wonderful and much missed Juanita Casey on her huge autobiography Azerbaijan! and a little book of her humorous poetry Ballybunions. Other books have included those on the colourful artist Sven Berlin, including Out of the Shadows, A Centenary Celebration, and a full biography of Sven Berlin, Timeless Man, a title the artist himself suggested! In addition I have curated and co-curated several shows and presented talks on this artist.
In between, my husband Anthony and I travelled to India and Burma following the footsteps taken by Anthony's father during his WW2 service. Our book, The Road to Rangoon was the result and a timely tribute to the 75th anniversary of VJ Day in 2020.
