The Journal of Christopher Pan Charman. A New Forest Life

The idyllic and bohemian story of Christopher Charman, Master Potter, of the New Forest whose mother Margaret and father Tom set up the Godshill Pottery. Tom was a wood carver (see Art UK), Margaret, the daughter of famous geologist Ernest Westlake, who founded the Order of Woodcraft Chivalry in the UK as well as the Sandy Balls holiday village in Godshill.

A Quaker educated at Sidcot School, Somerset, Chris revived the Pottery with his wife Kate and sister Danae, turning it into a productive business selling 'pots to be used'. He writes movingly of his family life, passionately of the New Forest and working the land, and with compassion and humour of the colourful characters who have filled his unusual life.
