The Complete Book of Outdoor Cookery | James A Beard and Helen Evans Brown
This is rare to find in its original edition. All types of outdoor cooking including smoking, grilling, camp cooking and cook-outs for a crowd are explained and recipes including accompaniments.
James A Beard (1903 – 1985) was a popular American TV chef (I Love to Eat) who founded a cooking school. This is the first English edition (1956) of his 1955 book written with his friend and fellow chef/writer Helen Evans Brown, published by Faber and Faber.
The dust jacket has bumps at corners, some foxing at leading edge and generally aged but still bright and colourful with complete spine, just a little chipped at the top and bottom. The original price of 15s is unclipped and there's a list of other Faber books on the rear dust cover and flap. Fly leaf is browned and a little foxed and leading edges of pages are foxed but not to the detriment of the text which is otherwise clean and tight. Green boards are bright and clean. 237pp plus appendix, of equipment including instructions on building a barbecue, and index.
