Sven Berlin - Horse & Rider
Inscribed Horse & Rider and signed Sven '55.
This is a pencil sketch made of Juanita, Berlin's wife, on India, one of the horses who brought them from Cornwall to the New Forest in a Gypsy wagon. Also known as 'Asia' because of her markings, Juanita described this Gypsy vanner in her autobiography as 'a handsome piebald mare of some 15.2 hands'.
At that time they lived in a field on the New Forest smallholding, Brickiln.
