ABOUT US

Well it's about me mostly! Sonia Aarons-Green.

I set up Millersford Press in 2008 having worked as a freelance writer and journalist for over 40 years.

I've worked in editorial, on newspapers and magazines, in corporate environments and publishing houses.  The subjects have ranged from cars to security, from the technical to arts and crafts, from  people to electronics.  I've found it all fascinating!

In 2008 I edited and published Azerbaijan! a limited edition of the vast autobiography of Juanita Casey, Sven Berlin's second wife, and a book of her humorous verse, Ballybunions or Why should Limerick have all the fun.

More recently I've written and published books on the colourful artist Sven Berlin, including Out of the Shadows, for the retrospective of his work at Penlee House Museum & Gallery in Penzance as well as A Centenary Celebration for the exhibition of the same name at St. Barbe Museum & Art Gallery, Lymington in 2011. I also wrote a full biography of Sven Berlin called Timeless Man, a title the artist himself suggested!  In addition I have curated and co-curated several shows and presented talks on this artist.

My latest project has been the real honour of working on a bit of New Forest history - the story of the Godshill Pottery, In the Spirit of Godshill, a memoir written by the delightful Chris Charman.

In between all this my husband Anthony and I travelled to India and Burma following the footsteps taken by Anthony's father during his  WW2 service.  Our book, The Road to Rangoon was the result and a timely tribute to the forthcoming 75th anniversary of VJ Day in 2020.
